What is the difference between a Dietitian and a Nutritionist?
Dietitians are a regulated profession that have complete an accredited university degree in nutrition, an internship and have passed a national accreditation exam. Only individuals that meet these criteria can use the title "registered dietitian". The term nutritionist is unregulated in most parts of North America. They may or may not have attained reputable training in nutrition.
Are dietitian services covered?
Dietitian services in private practice are not covered by Manitoba health. However, most private insurance plans do cover registered dietitian services. Check with your plan to find out if you have coverage. We direct bill to moat major insurance companies.
Do I need a doctors referral to see a dietitian?
No, you can book an appointment at anytime. Some private health insurance plans require a doctors note for coverage. Check with your plan to find out if you need one.
